Anecdotes and Video Clips

Sorry that it has been so long since my last post, my how time flies.  We're getting ready for Halloween, getting all of the pieces and parts for our costumes, going to the pumpkin farm, etc.  Not a lot has really been happening...except that Steve did start working a new job!!!  He is now working as a massage therapist at Massage Envy.  Yay, Steve!!

Here are a few funny stories to brighten your day, and some YouTube links to watch my favorite video clips from our Monster Cam...I should probably remind you that if they're on the Monster Cam, they are SUPPOSED TO BE SLEEPING!!!!

The funny stories and clips have nothing to do with each other, they are just all funny.

One day, Steve went up to the Triplets' room in the morning to bring them down for breakfast.  Meghan was only wearing her diaper (thank God for duct tape, see the photo above!).  Lizzie, on the other hand, was wearing TWO nightgowns!!!

On another instance, the Triplets were finished with dinner and eating their dessert of marshmallowy goodness (a sure-fire way to get on my kids' good side is to show up with a package of marshmallows), Lizzie was the first one done eating, so I brought her into the living room for her diaper change and PJ's. When she was done, I put her on the floor and went back into the kitchen to see who was next. Charlie was already standing up in his high chair, getting ready to climb down on his own (he does this a lot, especially if he's not first). OK, Charlie's next!  I was finishing with Charlie when Lizzie was suddenly screaming by the gate and pointing into the kitchen, "MOMMY, Meghan eat all the mago's!" There was Meghan, after wiggling her high chair over to the table, helping herself to more marshmallows.  (I swear, one day Meghan is going to come home with tatoos and pink hair.)

One evening, Steve was craving chili; so that's what we had for dinner, home made chili!!  We have had the perfect weather for it. recently.  We were loving it.  Emily ate 2 bowls full, she loved it so much. That's where the chili love ended.  Charlie looked like an oompa loompa when he was done, he didn't eat any of his chili.  He just rubbed the sauce all over himself until he was orange (a completely orange face, orange neck, orange hands, orange arms, and a partially orange belly) and had sticky hair. The girls both tried it, but then opted to not eat it. Meghan opted to throw hers everywhere, and was getting good distance too, I might add.  Lizzie at least tried her chili, and then decided that it looked better on the wall than in her stomach.  Let's just say that when we saw Charlie, we new an emergency, unplanned bath was in order. Charlie objected and cried the whole time. He was overruled...a CLEAN Charlie was put to bed (oh, a clean Meghan and Lizzie were put to bed too).

Earlier this month, Emily and Charlie were sitting on the little couch. Emily exclaimed, "Charlie, guess what? Daddy....baked....Grandma's....birthday.....cake! Yay!" Charlie's response..."burp." He's such a boy!

Monster Cam

A few weeks ago, we were able to get a spycam for the triplet's room. We thought this was an important feature for their safety. We've had enough with the little surprises that the kids have been springing on us...like climbing up onto the dresser, breaking a picture frame & playing with the glass shards, and climbing into their windows...with nothing but the screens to hold them in. All of these incidents make us look like complete failures as parents who don't know how to keep their kids safe, but that's really not a fair assessment. It's really hard to keep one step ahead of these guys. Emily NEVER pulled the antics that these three can conjur up, so we just have NO IDEA what the minds of three toddlers will come up with next. Why can't they be like their big sister and behave?

Well, now we're prepared. Now "big brother" sees all!! HA! Steve even went so far as to hook up a computer speaker in there so we can use the microphone feature of the camera to talk to them and tell them to get back in bed when they should be asleep. We can also use youtube, or any other music site, and using the microphone, we can stream music into their room. Let's just say that we've been having ALOT of fun with this new toy.

Winding Down & Gearing Up

Well, we are there. The last summer weekend before I return to the grindstone on Monday...students show up on Wednesday, and Fine Arts classes begin on Thursday. That was quick! It's also bittersweet. It will be very nice to get back down to the usual routine, but I'll miss the daily routine with the kids. They are fun to watch, very entertaining. Daddy will busy at the Thomas the Tank Engine of Evil event at the Illinois Railway Museum for the next two weekends, so we won't be able to do any family time fun this weekend. Boo! Oh well, I guess Labor Day weekend is right around the corner.

Emily and I went to sign her up for preschool today. She was very well behaved and smiling a lot while I was filling out the paperwork. So much so, that the receptionist commented that her name of Emily Joy is very fitting, as she is so smiley. She is excited about going to school, and will be attending classes 2 nights a week. Yep, NIGHT SCHOOL!! So cool!! This new preschool class is the perfect solution to our crazy family. Steve no longer will have to get up super early to get EVERYONE ready and loaded into the van to drop her off and then start all over again to go back to pick her up. She can go in the evening, when there is another pair of hands at home to drive her. This is a win/win situation. Yay!!! Between her preschool, her weekly Library date with Mama Kathy (& Auntie Mandy), and gymnastics, she should be pretty busy.

We also got the pool out again, so the kids could splash around for a little while, but mostly because Emily has been longing for her pool since the last time we were out there, and asks us every day if she can play in it. However, because of the pleuthera of mosquitos and the cooler temps, we weren't out there for long. Charlie had the chance to debut his brand new (and nicely fitting) big boy trunks. No more saggy bottom for our boy, he is super styling now in his Spiderman trunks.

Cha...cha...cha...CHANGES!

For awhile I have been thinking that it's time to revive the blog. Yes, we have Facebook these days, and for those of you who know us there, you know that we do quite a bit of updating about the kids on there. However, there is no real way to save those updates for future use, so once they're out there, they're gone again. I want a more concrete way to remember the daily anecdotes and milestones. Therefore, I am reviving the blog. I'm not sure how much I'll update it, especially once the school year starts next week, but I'm going to try. Emily has lots of memories saved for her on this blog, and it's about time that the triplets did as well.

Since last logging into Blogger, they have made quite a few changes to their blog possibilities, so I have given the blog a much needed facelift. I hope you like it. I might be tinkering with it off and on as I get used to things. Another change is that there's a new sheriff in town, yep...CHRISTA is taking over as the main voice on the blog. I'm sure you'll all hear from Steve too, from time to time, but I am initiating this, so I'm going to do a majority of the blogging.

What's going on with us right now? Well, the triplets (we're trying to stop referring to them as the babies, since they're 2 now) are still trying to transition to toddler beds. Naptime is always an adventure as they (mostly Meghan) find new and different ways to foil our best attempts to keep them all safe. Emily is still doing her thing, although I see preschool as a definite possibility for her this fall...on the horizon. We'll keep our fingers crossed that things work out how we'd hope. Steve is now a licensed Massage Therapist and will be looking for a part time gig, once my school schedule gets ironed out. That's it in a nutshell, I suppose.

Again, I don't know how much I'll update this, probaby as often as I have something to say, or as often as the kids give me material to write about.

I will be posting a few pictures on here, but Facebook will continue to be my main outlet for photos.
