Just A Little Off The Top . . .

So, it is time to strap yourselves in for another blogging blitz!! You may have noticed that we didn't do any blogging about last weekend or last week. We are working now to remedy that because, as I am sure you know, we did stuff.

Emily had a very big week, which included another first for her, her very first haircut. This blog entry will deal exclusively with this momentous event.

One week ago Thursday (October 4th to be a little more specific), Christa had an appointment to get her hair cut, and it's a good thing too; she was starting to look a little bit like a hippie. The more we thought about it,the more we decided that Emily's hair, specifically her bangs, needed a little attention as well. Nothing drastic, like Christa, but just a little trim to get the hair out of her eyes and show her cute little face.

Emily & I watched as Christa's hairdresser, Mary, snipped and trimmed & snipped and trimmed Christa's crazy mop until she looked like herself again, and we all vowed to not let Christa wait this long between haircuts again. Once Christa was done, it was Emily's turn under the scissors. Mary was very patient and also very good at getting Emily distracted so she could safely trim her bangs, clean up the longer hair on top, and trim nicely around her ears. Emily was a little less patient and squirmed A LOT. The funniest part of the hair cut was when she was working on the top. Every time she would get the hair in her fingers to measure the length, Emily would look up to see what she was doing. It would take five or six attempts to do each little snip. We were all having a very good time and Mary was very happy, and honored, to do Emily's first haircut, and is looking forward to many, many more.

"Mommy, what does this thing do?"

"Mary, you sure do have a lot of combs. Can I play with one?"

"Wow, I look better already."

Wait, I'm confused - getting her hair cut caused Emily to grow a foot out of her mouth? That has never happened to me. The worst that has ever happened to me after a haircut is having to wear a hat for a month, or maybe feeling cold drafts on my neck.

This is a very timely blog because Amy's comment when she saw the picture you sent me for my birthday (and I cannot believe you sent me a picture of peas. Blech!) was "She has hair!!!"

did Christa notice if Emily seemed light-headed after her experience?
