Meghan and Charlie Get a Bath

So here we are again, at the beginning of a new post. Right now you are probably wondering what this particular post could be about. The title seems so cryptic, what could it possibly mean? Well as usual, I will explain what it is all about and I will also give you some other information that could have been in the title, but would have made the title ridiculously long and even more cryptic.

Before you ask, and also before you start wondering what kind of place waits this long to give a baby a bath; allow me to say it wasn't their first. This was just the first one that we knew about ahead of time, so we were prepared with a camera crew and cute clothes for them to wear. You might also be wondering why only Charlie and Megabella get to have a bath, what about poor Lizzie? Trust me, Lizzie is also getting bathed regularly, and we will have pictures soon, but we had to leave so we could get some dinner. All of the activities surrounding the Trips is very scheduled, and Lizzie's bath was going to be last... after Charlie ate dinner.

A quick update on how everyone is doing. . .

Megabella: She is doing quite well, she is taking most of her feedings by bottle and only a little bit through the NG tube. (what is NG? Think laughing so hard milk comes out your nose but in the opposite direction.) She is up to 25 ml of food every 3 hours and is keeping it down and digesting it all.

Charlie: Just plain awesome! He got to 25 ml before the girls and was taking the bottle first but is now lagging behind, still taking most of it through the NG tube, I think because that way he can sleep through his meal.

Lizzie: Also doing very well, she is at 25 ml as well and was the first to do it all by bottle, she is also the loudest and the one most likely to actually be awake. She loves to wiggle (and has since revealed herself to her mother as the one doing most of the kicking and elbowing while still inside.)

So there you go...a story, a progress report, and now...some pictures! (By the way, the opening picture is Charlie mid-shampoo.)

Prior to the bathing and feeding cycle...Roberta gets a cuddle in with Charlie, while Auntie Mandy snuggles with Lizzie.

(Lizzie continued to get snuggled until we left, she was not a major player while we were visiting today....her torture came later.)

Finally, the bath has ended and Megabella lays, wrapped in a towel, contemplating what might be next for her. All the while, her nurse, Theresa, remakes her bed with fresh blankets brought in by her loving Mommy & Daddy.


Now dressed in her new outfit, Theresa holds her up to model it off. You can really tell how tiny she is in this picture.

without needing her NG tube!!!

Charlie, half-undressed, is still asleep....nothing phases this little guy. He is a chillin' machine!

Further proof...he remains asleep through his entire shampoo.

The washcloth scrub has begun...Charlie is still asleep!

Now that the scrubbing is done, he finally wakes up to complain...

Wrapped in a towel, waiting for Theresa to finish making his bed, Charlie poses as if to say,

"Hey....what just happened to me?"


Still trying to figure out what happened, but lying quietly now.
