Quite The Little Turkey

I think that you've become familiar with our flashback music. If not, I'll cue it again . . . (wiggle your fingers and sing, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo). We are now entering a phase of flashbacks to get you caught up from where we left off before we got to Emily's birthday. The next couple of blogs are going to jump around a bit. Try to keep up.

This year marked Emily's very first ever Thanksgiving, and she LOVED it!!

Thanksgiving was spent with Grandma & Grandpa B and Aunt Susie & Carl. We arrived at the house a little early, so that Emily could help Grandma B finalize her menu and prepare the dinner. We haven't really discussed this before, but Emily is quite the accomplished little chef and party planner. Grandma B was very grateful for the help. Emily really enjoyed her very first tastes of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and all present enjoyed watching Emily enjoy her meal in the ways that only she can.

More blogs are on the way. Continue to watch this space. Hope to be all caught up by the end of January, or maybe February . . . could be March.

Don't forget to order your 2008 Emily calendar from our Cafepress store. There's lots of adorable Emily items available there. Just click on the link to start shopping. Remember, all proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House.

The evening started with Emily helping Grandma B fine tune her menu.

"Grandma, what are you thinking? You can't serve the pumpkin pie before the turkey! And it's very silly to make the sweet potatoes into a smoothie. Let's make a sweet potato casserole instead."

Then Emily started reading the instructions for the Sweet Potato Casserole so that she could assist in their preparation.

"Grandma, this doesn't sound too hard. I think I could make them. There's only one problem; Daddy won't let me use the stove yet."

So, she opted to play with one of her zoo animals instead. She started with purple Mrs. Peacock.

Daddy was chosen to carve the turkey this year!

Emily was amazed at all of the food before her.

She decided to start with some mashed potatoes.

Then she tried a little bit of turkey.

She quickly moved onto the bread.

"This is really fun, Grandma. Can I try a some of the sweet potatoes? I've never had a sweet potato casserole before."

"Mmmmmmm, yummy!"

"Mommy, put that silly camera down, and eat your food. It's going to get cold."

A little post-Thanksgiving meal snooze for our cute little turkey.
